Abstract: Chris Bobonich is professor of philosophy and classics at Stanford University. His research primarily focuses on Plato and has been supported by a number of awards and fellowships. Bobonich is the author of Plato's Utopia Recast: His Later Ethics and Politics (Oxford University Press, 2002). He is the editor with Pierre Destrée of Akrasia in Greek Philosophy: from Socrates to Plotinus (Brill, 2007) and A Guidebook to Plato's Laws (Cambridge University Press, in press). Bobonich is currently working on an entry on “Plato” for the International Encyclopedia of Ethics (Blackwell Publishing). His chapters on "Images of Irrationality" in A Guidebook to Plato's Laws and "Socrates and Eudaimonia" in The Cambridge Companion to Socrates are both forthcoming from Cambridge University Press. Bobonich received a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.Phil. in Philosophy from Cambridge University. He holds a B.A. in Government from Harvard.
