Abstract

Excavation of the Bob Evans Mound, located on a ridgetop near Rio Grande, Gallia Co., Ohio, is described and illustrated. The mound yielded one poorly preserved burial. The center of the mound had been previously excavated but nothing is known of the findings. The current excavation yielded several Adena Stemmed flint points and an unusual diamond-shaped, partially drilled sandstone gorget. A radiocarbon date of 430 B.C. was obtained on charcoal submitted to Dicar Radiocarbon Laboratory.
