Abstract: Fred Greenstein has contributed significantly to public understanding and discourse through his scholarly investigations of the American presidency. He has authored over eighty articles and seventeen books, including The Hidden-Hand Presidency: Eisenhower as Leader. Greenstein is widely recognized for his work in political psychology and the presidency, and has pioneered in the methodology and theory of presidency studies. Greenstein is Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Director of the Research Program in Leadership Studies at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University.
