Abstract: Andrew Kydd’s research focuses on international security issues, especially how states learn to trust or mistrust each other, and how conflicts are resolved via reassurance, bargaining and mediation. He is currently working on a book on mistrust and reassurance in the Cold War, and beginning a project on international mediation. His work uses game theory to study state perceptions, beliefs and learning. He has published articles in several political science journals, including International Organization, the American Journal of Political Science, and World Politics. He is currently professor of Government at Harvard University.
