Abstract: From 1993 to 1996, Paul Kennedy was Secretariat to the International Commission on the Long-Term Future of the United Nations. He distilled his initial ignorance and then what he learned from that experience in his recent book The Parliament of Man: The Past, Present, and Future of the United Nations (Random House, 2006). This lecture will focus upon the difficulties and the possibilities of reforming the world organization.
