Abstract: Aerosols containing both ammonium sulfate and water were generated by nebulizing aqueous solutions of ammonium sulfate. Transmission FT-IR spectroscopy was used to characterize both the physical structure of the particles and the phases (i.e., aqueous, solid, liquid) of the constituents of the aerosol. The dependance of structure and phase composition on particle size and relative humidity will also be presented.
