Abstract: Adventure Central, located in the Wesleyan MetroPark near Dayton, Ohio is a youth education center that targets urban youth by engaging them in 4-H experiences. Through a partnership between Ohio State University Extension, 4-H Youth Development and Five Rivers MetroParks, young people are engaged in hands-on learning experiences that help them to learn and strengthen important skills to be capable, competent, and contributing citizens. This program description outlines the role of Adventure Central in the land-grant university as it relateds to being a "demonstration plot", much in the same manner as the traditional agricultural research plot.
