The 4-H Youth Development program conducts experientially based educational programs that engage youth ages 5-19. Programs are designed to offer a positive experience and to strengthen members' knowledge and skill set that will enable them to be caring, competent, and contributing citizens.

    Operation: Military Kids

    Operation: Military Kids (OMK) is the U.S. Army’s collaborative effort with America’s communities to support children and youth of National Guard, Army Reserve and Active Duty families impacted by the Global War on Terrorism. State 4-H Military Liaisons lead OMK State Teams in 34 states in partnership with the National Guard, Army Reserve, the Military Child Education Coalition, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies, The American Legion, and schools. These and other community organizations are joining Army Child & Youth Services to support “Suddenly Military” youth before, during, and after the deployment of a parent or loved one.

    Adventure Central: Applying the "Demonstration Plot" Concept to Youth Development

    Adventure Central, located in the Wesleyan MetroPark near Dayton, Ohio is a youth education center that targets urban youth by engaging them in 4-H experiences. Through a partnership between Ohio State University Extension, 4-H Youth Development and Five Rivers MetroParks, young people are engaged in hands-on learning experiences that help them to learn and strengthen important skills to be capable, competent, and contributing citizens. This program description outlines the role of Adventure Central in the land-grant university as it relateds to being a "demonstration plot", much in the same manner as the traditional agricultural research plot.
