Title: TUNABLE FAR INFRARED LASER SPECTROSCOPY OF JET-COOLED CARBON CLUSTERS: THE $\nu_{2}$ BENDING VIBRATION OF $C_{3}$ Creators: Saykally, R. J.; Schmuttenmaer, C. A.; Cohen, R. C.; Pugliano, N.; Heath, J. R.; Cooksy, A. L.; Busarow, K. L. Issue Date: 1990 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: Seven rovibrational transitions of the $(01^{1}0)\leftarrow (00^{0}0)$ fundamental bending band of $C_{3}$ have been measured with high precision using a tunable far-infrared laser spectrometer. The $C_{3}$ molecules were produced by laser vaporization of a graphite rod and cooled in a supersonic expansion. This is the first determination of the astronomically important $\nu_{2}$ fundamental frequency near $63 cm^{-1}$. These measurements provide the basis for studies of $C_{3}$ in the interstellar medium with far-infrared astronomy Description: $^{\ast\ast}$ THIS PAPER WAS ADDED TO THE PROGRAM MOMENTS BEFORE IT WENT TO THE PRINTERS.
