Title: ABSOLUTE INTENSITY MEASUREMENTS IN THE $\nu_{2}$ and $\nu_{3}$ FUNDAMENTALS OF $CO_{2}$ Creators: Johns, J. W. C. Issue Date: 1987 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: Absolute intensities have been measured for about 340 lines in the region of the $\nu_{3}$ fundamental of $CO_{2}$ and a rather smaller number of lines in the region of the $\nu_{2}$ fundamental. The band intensities (in $cm^{-2}$/atm at 300 K) have been found to be 205 and 2219 respectively for $\nu_{2}$ and $\nu_{3}$. Herman-Wallis factors, used to describe the influence of vibration-rotation interaction on the line intensities, have also been determined and are found to agree well with theory. Some of the precautions taken to ensure accurate measurements will be described.
