Title: AN ELECTRIC QUADRUPOLE TRANSITION: THE $b {^{1}}\Sigma_{g}^{+} - a {^{1}}\triangle_{g}$ EMISSION SYSTEM OF OXYGEN Creators: Fink, E. H.; Kruse, H.; Ramsay, D. A.; Vervloet, M. Issue Date: 1986 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: The 0-0 band of the $b {^{1}}\Sigma_{g}^{+} - a {^{1}}\triangle_{g}$ system of oxygen near $5200 cm^{-1}$ has been recorded in emission using a Bomem Fourier transform spectrometer. Five branches are observed with $\triangle J = 0, \pm 1, \pm 2$. The relative intensities of the branches agree with those calculated for an electric quadrupole transition.
