Title: DIODE LASER OBSERVATION OF THE $\nu_{3}$ BAND OF $HCO^{+}$ Creators: Foster, Stephen C.; McKellar, A. R. W.; Sears, Trevor J. Issue Date: 1984 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: Last year the $\nu_{1}$ band (C-H stretch) of $HCO^{+} (\approx 3100 cm^{-1})$ was detected by Gudemann $et al.^{1}$ using a color center laser and a Doppler modulation scheme. Further measurements of $\nu_{1}$ were made by $Amano,^{2}$ who used a difference frequency laser and discharge (concentration) modulation. We have now observed the $\nu_{3}$ band (C-O stretch, $\approx 200 cm^{-1})$ using a diode laser spectrometer with conventional source frequency modulation and 2f detection. The absorption cell was a large liquid-nitrogen-cooled multiple-traversal hollow $cathode.^{3}$ Eight lines in the R-branch, ranging from R(6) to R(17), were measured with an accuracy of $0.001 cm^{-1}$. Combining these data with the previously $measured^{4} v_{3}=1, J=1 \leftarrow 0$ microwave transition, the following parameters were determined: $v_{0}=2183.9496 cm^{-1}, B^{\prime}=44299.904 MHz$, and $D^{\prime}=82.96 kHz$.
