 Title: QUENCHING OF $^{12}C^{16}O$ AND $^{12}C^{18}O A^{1}\Pi, v' = 9$ Creators: Melton, L. A.; Yiin, K-C Issue Date: 1974 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: The atomic oxygen line at 1306 {\AA} excites $^{12}C^{16}O A^{1}\Pi$, $v^{\prime} = 9$, $j^{\prime} = 22$ and $^{12}C^{18}O A^{1}\Pi, v^{\prime} = 9, j^{\prime} = 6$. For $^{12}C^{160} A_{1}\Pi, v^{\prime} = 9$, the following quenching rates have been measured (units, $cm^{3}$ sec$^{-1}$): $^{12}C^{16}O$, $8.7 \times 10^{-10}$; $^{l}2C^{180}$, $7.9 \times 10^{-10}$; He, $5.8 \times 10^{-12}$; Ne $1.9 \times 10^{-12}$; Ar, $2.6 \times 10^{-11}$; Kr, $1.4 \times 10^{-10}$; Xe, $5.1 \times 10^{-10}$; $H_{2}$, $2.0 \times 10^{-10}$; $D_{2}$, $1.6 \times 10^{-11}$. For $^{12}C^{18}O$, $A^{1}\pi, v^{\prime}= 9$, the following quenching rates have been measured; $^{12}C^{16}O$, $8.6 \times 10^{-10}$; $^{12}C^{180}$, $1.3 \times 10^{-9}$; He, $4.1 \times 10^{-12}$ Ne, $7.3 \times 10^{-13}$; Ar, $1.9 \times 10^{-11}$; Kr, $2.2 \times 10^{-10}$; Xe, $5.4 \times 10^{-10}$; $H_{2}$, $2.5 \times 10^{-10} D_{2}$, $1.6 \times 10^{-10}$. Various mechanisms for the quenching will be discussed.
