Title: THE MEASUREMENT OF THE ABSORPTION STRENGTHS OF SOME LINES IN THE $\nu_{1} + \nu_{2}$ AND $\nu_{2} +\nu_{3}$ BANDS OF AMMONIA Creators: Margolis, J. S.; Kwan, Y. Y. Issue Date: 1973 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: The $\nu_{1} + \nu_{2}$ and $\nu_{2} + \nu_{3}$ bands of ammonia overlap each other to a considerable extent. Nevertheless, many of the lines are sufficiently free from blends that their intensities may be accurately measured. More than 200 lines have been measured in these bands using the curve of growth method and an average spectral resolution of $0.06 cm^{-1}$. The measurements have been performed at low pressures so that lines are nearly Doppler shaped, thereby reducing the effects of collision broadening. The measured strengths deviate, to a small extent, from the values calculated on the basis of a conventional H\”onl-London factor, indicating the existence of a vibration-rotation interaction. The intensities are analyzed according to the procedure indicated in the preceding abstract and the values of the interaction parameters and band strengths are presented.
