Title: CORIOLIS INTERACTION IN THE FERMI TRIPLET $05^{1}0-00^{0}0$, $13^{1}0-00^{0}0$, AND $21^{1}0-00^{0}0$ OF $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$ Creators: Downing, Harry D.; Krohn, B. J.; Hunt, R. H. Issue Date: 1973 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: The intensity perturbations that occur in the perpendicular bands $05^{1}0 - 00^{0}0, 13^{1}0 - 00^{0}0$, and $21^{1}0 - 00^{0}0$ of $CO_{2}$ have been analyzed by evaluating the effects due to the Coriolis interaction between $v_{2}$ and $v_{3}$. As given by Plyler, Tidwell, and $Benedict^{1}$, the Coriolis term in the Hamiltonian produces a multiplying factor of $(1 +\xi m)^{2}$ in the expression for individual line intensity for a perpendicular band. ($\xi$ is a constant, characteristic of each band, and m is the rotational index number). $\xi$ has been calculated for each band from known molecular constants and then compared with the experimental value. Line intensity information for parallel bands necessary for the calculation of the $\xi$ ‘s will also be presented. Description: This research was supported by NASA Grant NGR 10-004-056. $^{1}$ E.K.
