Abstract: Absolute infrared intensities have been measured for solid C/CN, BrCN and ICN. The measurements have been made by standard $techniques^{1, 2}$ on polycrystalline films which had been deposited from gas phase onto a window cooled to liquid nitrogen temperatures. Large differences (up to a factor of ten) are found between the gas phase intensities and the intensities measured for the solid phase. These differences are believed to be due to the strong intermolecular interactions existing in these solids. Refinements have been made on the $analysis^{2}$ of the experimental data from the transmission measurements to obtain the absolute intensity. A careful re-examination has also been made of the ``field effect'' applied in the computation of the transition moment from the observed absolute intensities.
