Abstract: The new Wilks Scientific Corporation NQR-1A Spectrometer will be described and performance characteristics with regard to scanning speed, resolution and frequency accuracy covered in detail. Application of the NQR technique to elucidation of the structure of a complex molecule will be made utilizing the NQR spectra of isomeric 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexachlorocyclohexanes. The value of peak height in structure elucidation will be established by reference to simple molecules and applied to the above study, together with a consideration of the effect of crystal splitting on peak height. The isomeric 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexabromocyclohexane will be compared to the chloro analogs and a structural assignment made, as well as assignments for the three isomers of 1,2,3,4-tetrachloro-1,2,3,4,-tetrahydronapthalene.
