Issue Date: 1967 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: Raman spectra of liquids and gases have been measured photoelectrically in this laboratory using a cw argon-ion laser. For example, the spectra of vapors of common organic solvents have been obtained at the room temperature vapor pressure. Under favorable conditions, this can correspond to the detection of a solute in a solution at a mole ratio concentration of less than $10^{-4}$. Recent measurements of intensities and the depolarization ratios of the Raman spectra of gases, liquids and solutions will be presented to illustrate this point.
