 Title: PHOTOCHEMISTRY AND SPECTROSCOPY OF MATRIX ISOLATED $C_{3}\cdot H_{2}O$ COMPLEX Creators: Szczepanski, J.; Ekern, S.; Vala, Martin Issue Date: 1994 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: Fourier transform infrared absorption measurements of Nd/YAG-laser-ablated isotopic mixtures of $^{13}C$ and $^{12}C$ isolated with water in argon matrices have revealed the existence of a complex of $^{12/13}C_{3}$ with water. The structure of the complex, deduced from a normal coordinate analysis of the vibrational spectrum; and from a HF/6-31$G^{*}$ ab initio calculations, will be discussed. Photolysis (405 nm) of the matrix sample leads the disappearance of the complex bands and the formation of two conformers of 3-hydroxypropadienylidene. The predicted structure and vibrational spectrum of these intermediates, calculated via {ab initio} theory, will be compared to experimental results.
