Issue Date: 1992 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: Three-photon transitions have been measured with a resolution of 2 MHz FWHM by crossing a He-seeded $SF_{6}$ molecular beam with two cw $CO_{2}$ lasers (maximum fluence about $1 mJ/cm^2$), which simultaneously interact with the molecules. Level shifts were observed arising from the $2+1 \ h\nu$ character of the transitions. In a special $(A)^{-1}$, level configuration the level shifts are influenced by the dynamic Start effect, producing strong interference effects.
