Abstract: The infrared spectrum of solid HD has been obtained using a Fourier Transform Spectrometer with a resolution of $0.04 cm^{-1}$. The $\Delta J = 5$ transitions in the pure rotational and vibration-rotation regions have been observed. The measured wavenumbers are $1318.26 cm^{-1}$ for the $V_{0} (0)$ and $4486.66 cm^{-1}$ for the $V_{1\leftarrow 0} (0)$ transitions. An attempt to interpret this transition by 32-polar induced dipole moment yields a theoretical value of the integrated absorption coefficient $\alpha$ as $1.4 \times 10^{-16}$ $cm^{3}s^{-1}$. This compares well with the measured integrated absorption coefficient $1.1 \times 10^{-16}$ $cm^{3}s^{-1}$ for $V_{0} (0)$. The $U_{0}(0)$ and $V_{1\leftarrow 0}(0)$ transitions have also been observed and their integrated absorption coefficients have been measured. The $\Delta J = 3$ transitions are found to be overlapped by the double transitions of HD. However, the $T_{1\leftarrow 0}(0), Q_{1\leftarrow 0}(0) + T_{0} (0)$ transitions have been identified.
