Title: STRENGTHS, HALF-WIDHS, AND TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE OF HALF-WIDTH, FOR R BRANCH SPECTRAL LINES IN THE $\nu_{3}$ AND $(\nu_{2}+\nu_{3})-\nu_{2}$ BANDS OF $CO_{2}$ NEAR 4.3 $\mu m$, MEASURED WITH A DIODE LASER Creators: Devi, V. Malathy; Fridovich, B.; Jones, D. J.; Snyder, D. G. S. Issue Date: 1983 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: Absolute line strengths have been measured, at room temperature, for R branch spetral lines of the $\nu_{3}bands$ of $^{12}C^{16}O^{18}O$ and $^{12}C^{16}O^{17}O$, and for the $(\nu_{2}+\nu_{3})-\nu_{2}$, and $(\nu_{1}+\nu_{3})-\nu_{1}$ bands of $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$, in the $2365-2393 cm^{-1}$ spectral region using a tunble diode laser. Self- and nitrogen-broadened half-widths were measured for some of the $\nu_{3}$ lines of $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$ and $^{12}C^{16}O^{17}O$. Nitrogen-broadened half-widths were measured for the $(\nu_{2}+\nu_{3})-\nu_{2}$ lines of $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$.From half-width measurements made on nitrogen-broadened lines over a temperature range from 217 to 299K we have calculated the temperature coefficient of the Lorentz half-width n, defined as $b^{\circ}_{L}(T) = b^{\circ}_{L}(T_{o}) (T/T_{o})^{-n}$, for the $\nu_{3}$ and $(\nu_{2}+\nu_{3})-\nu_{2}$ bands of $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$. The mean values of the n are $0.757\pm 0.008$ and $0.789 \pm 0.015$, respectively. The band strengths deduced form line strengths for both the $\nu_{3}$ and $(\nu_{2}+\nu_{3})-\nu_{2}$ bands of $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$ are about 5\% lower than those of the latest AFGL line listing. Isotopic band strengths for the $\nu_{3}$ bands are also reported. Description: Author Institution: NOAA/NESDIS FOB \#4, E/RA21 URI: http://hdl.handle.net/1811/11814 Other Identifiers: 1983-ME-04
