Abstract: Fourier transform spectra of the A-X electronic transition of VO (near 1.05 $\nu$) have been recorded at high resolution with the 1 meter FT spectrometer of the McMath Solar Telescope at Kitt peak National Observatory. Preliminary analysis shows that the A electronic state is a $^{4}\Pi$ state close to case (b) coupling. The spin-orbit structure of the $A ^{4}\Pi$ sate appears to be very irregular, and there is evidence for a second electronic state lying extremely close.
