 Title: ABSORPTION SPECTRUM OF $4.3\mu CO_{2}$ BAND $(\Delta\nu_{3} = 1)$ OBSERVED AT $800^{\circ} K$ Creators: Esplin, Mark P.; Sakai, Hajime Issue Date: 1980 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: In an effort to develop a global understanding of the vibrational-rotational transition of $CO_{2}$, we studied the $CO_{2} (\Delta\nu_{3} = 1)$ bands between $2200 cm^{-1} \sim 2400$ $cm^{-1}$ under a thermal condition with a gas temperature at $800^{\circ} K$. The spectral data were measured with a resolution of $0.007 cm^{-1}$. The excitation at this temperature produces transitions which originate at a lower state energy of about $6000 cm^{-1}$. In the actual transitions, the rotational transitions for the (00011-00001) band of $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$ cover well over J = 120 line, and those for the (10021-10011) of $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$ are over J = 80 line. Our newly developed algorithm produced a satisfactory identification of the observed lines which totaled more than 4,000 in the region. The molecular constants which give the theoretical line position within the experimental error will be presented for those lines identified.
