Abstract: The magnetic circular dichroism of Ta0 matrix isolated in argon has been observed in the temperature range $10-24^{\circ} $K. Overlapping vibrational bands of the K, L, and H transitions, previously reported by Weltner and $McLeod^{1}$, were found to have C terms of opposite sign. The assignments of Cheetham and $Barrow^{2}$ of the ground state to $^{2}\Delta_{3/2}$ and the L and M states to $^{2}\pi_{1/2}$ and $^{2}\Phi_{5/2}$, respectively, are confirmed by our results. The MCD and absorption spectra of VO and NbO will also be discussed.
