Abstract: In a continuing search for triplet $CF_{2}$, two discharge techniques were used with $C_{2}F_{6}$ to produce excited $CF_{2}$. The $CF_{2}$ emission spectrum from a microwave discharge-flow system was identical to that from a high voltage discharge-flow system. These bands are compared to those observed in the laser induced fluorescence of $CF_{2}$ which unambiguously extends the observation for the $\tilde{A}^{1}B_{1}-\tilde{X}^{1}A_{1}$ system to $4300 {\AA}^{1}$. A reactive system has been reported which yields emission bands near 5600 {\AA} which were tentatively assigned to $\tilde{a}^{3}B_{1}-\tilde{X}^{1}A_{1}$ of $CF_{2}{^{2}}$. The production of $CF_{2}(^{3}B_{1})$ was accounted for the following reaction: \begin{equation} 0(^{3}P) + C_{2}F_{4} \rightarrow CF_{2}(^{3}B_{1}) + CF_{2}O. \end{equation} The 5600 {\AA} bands were reproduced by reacting $C_{2}F_{4}$ with the effluents of a discharge through $N_{2}$ thus indicating they are due to $\tilde{A}^{2}\Pi -\tilde{X}^{2}\Sigma^{+}$ of CN and not $CF_{2}$.
