 Title: ANALYSIS OF THE UV LASER TRANSITION IN $Br_{2}$ Creators: Sur, Abha; Tellinghuisen, Joel Issue Date: 1978 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: The previously reported vibrational analysis of the $d^{\prime} \rightarrow A^{\prime}$ transition (2900 {\AA}) in $Br_{2}$ is extended to include additional bands obtained by photographing the emission from isotopically separated $^{79}Br_{2}$ and $^{81} Br_{2}$. From measurements of the partially resolved rotational structure in several prominent bands, employed together with Franck-Condon and centrifugal distortion calculations, we obtain a rotational analysis. The results indicate that $R_{e}^{\prime\prime} = 2.69$ \AA, which is comparable to the known values for the $B(0^{+} u \; ^{3}\Pi)$ and $A(1u^{3}\Pi)$ states. The analysis supports the $2g ^{3}\Pi \rightarrow 2u ^{3}\Pi$ designation for this transition.
