Abstract: 1,3-Disilacyclobutane -$1,1,3,3-d_{4}$ when prepared from 99\% isotopically pure lithium aluminum deuteride contains approximately 5\% 1,3-disila-cyclobutane-$1,1,3-d_{3}$. This isotopic impurity gives rise to an infrared absorption band in the Si-H stretching region. Sum and difference bands originating from the Si-H mode in combination with the ring-puckering vibration were observed and analysed to determine the potential energy function for this molecule.
