Title: PHASE RELATED CONFORMATION AND RING-PUCKERING COMBINATION BANDS OF 1,3-DISILACYCLOBUTANE Creators: Irwin, R. M.; Laane, J. Issue Date: 1978 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: Vibrational analysis, including a normal coordinate calculation, of the spectra of 1,3-disilacyclobutane and its $1,1,3,3-d_{4}$ derivative demonstrate that the molecule is puckered in vapor and liquid phases but is planar in the solid state. This is made clear from data for the low-frequency ring-bending mode and the in-phase $SiH_{2}$ rocking mode which show little interaction for the solid phase, but couple extensively in the other phases. In the gas-phase this interaction is reflected by the observation of several combination and hot” band sequences in both infrared and Raman spectra of both molecules.
