Abstract: The far-infrared spectrum of silacyclobutane-$1-d_{1}$ has been recorded and analyzed. The ring-puckering vibration of this molecule is unusual in that its kinetic energy expansion is asymmetric even though the potential energy function is symmetric. Calculations have been carried out in order to establish when such asymmetries become significant.
