Issue Date: 1978 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: The $\nu_{5}$ and $\nu_{8}$ fundamental bands of allene $(C_{3}H_{4})$ have been studied with a Doppler limited difference frequency laser spectrometer. For the $\nu_{10}$ perpendicular band we have observed both the splitting of the $k^{\prime} = -\ell^{\prime} = \pm 1$ levels and the $k^{\prime} = -\ell^{\prime} = \pm 1$ levels. Many weak perturbations are observed; in fact, almost every k sub-band has one or more small local perturbations. Some of the Q-branches of the hot"" bands due to $\nu_{11}$ are resolved and the assignment of the hot"" band features will be discussed.
