Issue Date: 1977 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: The absorption spectrum of diacetylene in the region 2600-30 000 \AA \ has been photographed under high resolution both at room temperature and at -$60^\circ$C. The vibrational structure is quite complex, and much of it persists at the lower temperature. Some of the bands exhibit rotational fine structure, and analyses of these bands have been carried out. To assist in the identification of the lower state levels from the rotational constants obtained, vibrational bands in the photographic infrared region of the spectrum have been studied under higher resolution than in earlier work and more precise rotational constants evaluated. The nature of the molecule in the excited electronic state will be discussed, and vibrational and rotational constants will be presented.
