Title: HIGH RESOLUTION LASER ZEEMAN SPECTROSCOPY IN THE 5 AND 10 $\mu m$ REGIONS Creators: Dale, R. M.; Johns, J. W. C.; McKellar, A. R. W. Issue Date: 1977 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: A laser Zeeman spectrometer has been constructed in which the absorption cell has been placed inside the laser cavity. The gain cell can be used with either CO or $CO_{2}$ as well as their isotopic modifications and can thus operate at 5 and at 10 $\mu$m. The in-cavity operation increases both the resolution, since saturation dips can be observed, and the sensitivity of the apparatus. The performance will be illustrated with the fundamental of NO in which A-doubling of $\sim$ 2.7 MHz is clearly resolved and in which spectra due to the $v = 2\leftarrow y = 1$ hot” band as well as the isotopic molecules $^{15}N^{16}O, ^{14}N^{18}O$ and $^{14}N^{17}O$, all present in natural abundance, have been observed.
