The Institute for Excellence in Justice (IEJ) was established in 2006 as a partnership between the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's Institute on Correctional Best Practices (OICBP) and the Ohio State University's Criminal Justice Research Center (CJRC). By combining the research power of CJRC with the expertise of OICBP, the IEJ will work with criminal justice practitioners to identify and disseminate knowledge pertinent to the development and implementation of sound policies and practices. The IEJ will also work with the academic community to identify gaps in research that can be translated into a best practices blueprint for practitioners. These activities will help to ensure that programming, decision making and policy implementation are aligned with what research concludes are best practices, thereby, increasing the effectiveness in serving the academic research community, policy developers and the implementation community.
