The Plaques Category consists of 180 plaques made from wood, brass, acrylic, or glass dating from 1962 to 2014. Plaques in the collection document all aspects of John Glenn's adult life, though the bulk of the collection pertains to his NASA and Senate careers. In addition, the collection contains a number of plaques presented to Glenn's wife, Anna "Annie" Castor Glenn from 1972 to 2009. Many of these plaques honor Mrs. Glenn's humanitarian work, especially with speech and hearing organizations.
