Abstract

Experimental verification will be presented of the expected resonance enhancement of coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS)$^{1}$ when the excitation frequencies approach an electronic transition. The calculation of polarization ratios in terms of molecular parameters will also be described for this four photon process. Recent high resolution gas phase cw CARS experiments on $H_{2}, D_{2}$ and methane with 25 MHz resolution will also be discussed.
