Title: PREDISSOCIATION IN THE $C^{2}\Sigma^{+}$ STATE OF NS Creators: Chiu, Chi-Lian; Silvers, S. J. Issue Date: 1975 Publisher: Ohio State University Abstract: A series of emission, absorption and fluorescence experiments on the $C^{2}\Sigma^{+}$ state of NS show that the intensities of bands originating from $v^{\prime}$ = 1 and 2 levels are leas (relative to $v^{\prime}$ = 0 band intensities) than is expected on the basis of calculated and observed Franck-Condon factors. This weakening is attributed to predissociation and an upper limit of 45 380 $cm^{-1}$ is obtained for $D_{e}$, the ground state dissociation energy. Also the $D^{2}\Sigma$ state of NS is seen for the first time in absorption.
