Abstract
The collision-broadening of rotational absorption lines of asymmetric top molecules was investigated within the framework of a pressure-broadening theory proposed $earlier.^{1}$ The original theory cannot be applied without modifications to collisions involving molecules having two closely spaced energy levels with other energy levels very widely spaced. The modifications required for spectra of molecules of this type, i.e., the $NH_{3}$ inversion spectrum and rotational absorption lines of some asymmetric top molecules, will be discussed and calculations for some lines of $H_{2}O$ and $SO_{2}$ presented for comparison with available experimental data.
