Abstract: We have measured rotational energy transfer rates for collisions of quantum state selected LiH $A^{1}\Sigma$ with Li atoms. For these collisions, rotational energy transfer is in competition with the very efficient long range resonant electronic energy transfer we have previously described at this meeting. The resonant transfer, which forms $LiH X^{1}\Sigma$ and $Li(^{2}P)$ atoms, has cross sections ranging up to 500 {\AA}$^{2}$; rotational energy transfer within a LiH $A^{1}\Sigma, V^{1}$ level represents a significant channel for depopulation of the originally excited level only for those levels in which the long range electronic energy transfer is negligible.
