It is a unit of the Office of International Affairs.

In 1997, Major General Raymond E. Mason Jr. (ret.) gave $500,000 to&#13;
fund an endowed professorship in military history at the Mershon Center for&#13;
International Security Studies. Now, the Mason Foundation has generously agreed to give $600,000 more to turn&#13;
the endowed professorship into an endowed chair. The Mershon Center and&#13;
Department of History are conducting a joint search to fill the new position.
